Sometimes, timing is everything for a volunteer program, and FloCrit is so fortunate to have aligned its timing with Kait Zemitis. When Kait left her last job, she knew she was committed to spending some time exploring different careers, and that she wanted to find volunteer opportunities with which she could continue to be involved upon starting her new job. Kait first came to FloCrit in February 2019 through Mile High United Way’s VolunteerMatch, and started on a student shopping day in Baby Bucks. She picked up the price structure quickly, and was a natural when interacting with our young moms. “After working in the boutique with other volunteers, helping students, seeing the campus, and hearing about upcoming activities, I was excited to get involved more,” writes Kait.
Kait quickly got involved, and soon became the official Gala Silent Auction lead, organizing all our silent auction items and preparing them for FloCrit’s Gala in March, meticulously cataloging each of the prizes and cross-checking each prize and physical item. She created her own marking and color-coding system, and proved herself a capable, thoughtful, and fun person to have around the office. And if the silent auction wasn’t enough, Kait also steamed all 70 of the table runners. At the Gala, Kait helped oversee the entire silent auction, and because of her deep knowledge of all auction items, was a great resource for all volunteers.
Following the Gala, Kait continued to volunteer with FloCrit’s special events opportunities, helping to facilitate the Prom Boutique, providing crucial assistance with the Early Childhood Education Center mother and child cap and gown graduation photos, and most recently, passing out teacher appreciation gifts on one of her final days before starting a new job. FloCrit is excited for Kait as she starts a new position and gets back into a regular swing, which includes transitioning to a position on our Junior Board. She has been a shining example of service and FloCrit is fortunate to have had her for the time that it did. Thank you, Kait for all you have done!
