Volunteer Opportunities

Thank you for igniting the flames of change with us! Through the Little Firebirds Mentor Program, we aim to cultivate a group of committed individuals who want to build community and believe in the premise “it takes a village.”

We know that modern parenthood is an incredible – and challenging– journey, and we’re looking for folks who have embarked, or are embarking, on that journey at the same time as our teen parents.

An ideal Little Firebirds mentor will:

  • be currently raising a young child, or be newly pregnant
  • believe that support comes from relationships and that there are unique and universal experiences for all who parent
  • help fill the social capital gap that many FloCrit teen parents experience through relational capacity building; demonstrate positive relationship- and trust-building, connecting around parenthood
  • commit to collecting supplies and preparing a hospital bag with their FloCrit mentee; assist with baby furniture delivery; create a meal train (seven postpartum meals for a family of four); communicate weekly with FloCrit mentee
  • clear a background check and application process with our Parent Educator

If this sounds like you or someone you know, please fill out the interest form below! Thank you!

Baby Bucks is FloCrit’s basic needs store where parents can shop for basic needs items for free. Baby Bucks donations supply teen mothers and their children with new and gently used donations of clothing, nursing supplies, diapers, wipes, shoes, books, toys, hygiene products and more.

  • Commitment to one shift a week is required for consistency in the classroom
  • ECE is open 8am-3:30pm
  • Requires volunteer orientation, background check, fingerprinting, and 3 free online trainings (approximately three hours)

Do you love parties and taking part in family & community celebrations? As a Family Engagement Event Volunteer, you will support our team by assisting in event setup/decorating, serving food, assisting in kids activities and post-event clean up.

  • All Family Engagement Events are once a month on Tuesdays, and the volunteer shifts are 2:30-5pm

Special Event Volunteers assist with planning or execution of event activities for our two annual fundraising events:

  • Miles for Moms Run/Walk/Roll (Fall)

Volunteer Grant programs, sometimes known as “Dollars for Doers”, are charitable giving programs where companies provide a monetary donation to eligible nonprofits to recognize employees who volunteer.

These programs enable corporations to give back to their communities and support organizations that employees are already passionate about. They encourage and reward employees for giving back to the community.

If you volunteer at Florence Crittenton Services, please tell your company’s human resource administrator and ask if your company has a Dollars for Doers/Volunteer Grant program to support your volunteer efforts.
