More Ways to Give
From social-emotional support to housing assistance, every donation supports the programs and services offered to our young families. There are many ways to make a donation whether it be money, time, or items.
Below, you’ll find ways to make your gifts go further. Please contact our office at 720-423-8900 with any questions that are not answered on this website.
Giving Levels
At FloCrit, we recognize donors who commit to regular giving, and giving at levels that provide a sustaining source of income, building pathways to empowerment for FloCrit teen families. To learn more about these giving levels, or to discuss how you can plan your gifts to become a member, call our Director of Development, Theresa Garcia, at 720-423-8910.
Pathbuilders
PathBuilders contribute $1,000 or more in monetary gifts which create a reliable and stable source for our programs to educate, prepare, and empower teen mothers and their children. This financial support is in addition to contributions made for special events, including sponsorships, table purchases, ticket sales, or registration fees.
PathBuilder Benefits:
- Exclusive invitations to all events
- Printed copy of the bi-annual newsletter, The Pathfinder, with a signed cover letter

Empowerment Society
The Empowerment Society represents some of our most committed and transformational donors, contributing $12,000 or more a year.
$12,000 is an important amount integral to the FloCrit mission. The average total cost to support a family at FloCrit is $24,000 a year. Of that, we need to raise $12,000 through external fundraising to combine with our earned revenue sources to provide wraparound services for one mom and one child annually. Empowerment Society members give at a level to support at least one family per year.
Empowerment Society Benefits:
- Exclusive invitations to all events
- Printed copy of the bi-annual newsletter, The Pathfinder, with a signed cover letter
- Annual thank you video from FloCrit staff and families at the end of the school year
- Impact report letter series featuring one FloCrit family

Phoenix Society - Monthly Giving
The Phoenix Society is our monthly donor community; it represents some of our most committed and active Florence Crittenton Services champions. Monthly giving is the best way to provide a reliable source of funding for the programs at Florence Crittenton Services.
For $5 or more a month, you can help us educate, prepare, and empower two generations—teen mother and child. Monthly giving lets you spread your contributions throughout the year, easily budget your contributions, and make an ongoing commitment to Florence Crittenton Services and the teen families we serve.
As a monthly donor, your donation can be charged to your credit or debit card on the day of your choosing each month. You can increase, decrease, or cancel your donation at any time. At the end of each year, we will send you a written acknowledgement of your monthly donations received during the calendar year for your state and federal taxes.
Legacy and Planned Giving
With a bit of education and preparation through gift planning, you can be empowered to support generations of teen families for years to come. Your legacy will be seen through the future families you help to launch into living the lives they choose. Many legacy and planned gift options may also offer financial benefits for yourself and your heirs. All legacy gifts or gifts to our endowment will include membership for you in our 125 Legacy Circle. You can read more about that, or other common options for legacy and planned giving below. FloCrit development staff is always ready to assist you as you consider how to fulfill your philanthropic goals. Download our Legacy Giving Brochure or contact Theresa Garcia at 720-423-8910 or tgarcia@flocritco.org for more information or questions.
Donor Advised Funds
Donor Advised Funds, or DAFs, are increasingly common gift vehicles for donors. DAFs are funds opened with community foundations or financial services firms that give donors flexibility to recommend how much and how often money is granted to qualified charities like Florence Crittenton Services. When you set up your DAF, and each time you put money into it, you will receive the maximum charitable deduction. You can also create a legacy with your DAF, by including Florence Crittenton Services as a beneficiary after your lifetime.
Bequests
A bequest is a gift made through your will or living trust. It is one of the most common and flexible ways you can leave a planned gift.
A bequest is generally a revocable gift; it can be changed or modified at any time. You can choose to designate that a bequest be used for a general or specific purpose, giving you peace of mind knowing that your gift will be used as intended. Bequests are exempt from federal estate taxes. If you have a taxable estate, the estate tax charitable deduction may offset or eliminate estate taxes, resulting in a larger inheritance for your heirs.
Contact our team if for sample language you can use to include in your well or living trust, or download our Resource Guide for more information.
If you do include Florence Crittenton Services in your will or living trust, please let us know by filling out and returning our Gift Designation Form – we want to be able to thank you!
Qualified Charitable Distributions from your IRA
These gifts are available for donors who are 70 ½ years old, and allow you as the donor to give any amount (up to a maximum of $105,000) per year from your IRA directly to a qualified charity without having to pay income taxes on the money. This popular gift option is commonly called the IRA charitable rollover, or a qualified charitable distribution, QCD for short. Benefits of giving through a QCD include that you pay no income taxes on the gift. The transfer generates neither taxable income nor a tax deduction, so you benefit even if you do not itemize your deductions.Since the gift doesn’t count as income, it can reduce your annual income level. This may help lower your Medicare premiums and decrease the amount of Social Security that is subject to tax.
Additionally, beginning the year you turn 73, you can use your gift to satisfy all or part of your required minimum distribution (RMD).
Beneficiary Designations
Beneficiary designations are a great way to include Florence Crittenton Services in your estate plans without making a change to your will or living trust.
You can designate FloCrit as a beneficiary of all or part of your IRA, 401(k) 403 (b), pension, or other tax deferred retirement account. If you are like most people, you will likely not use all of your retirement assets during your lifetime, creating the opportunity to give all or part of your unused retirement assets to further the FloCrit mission.
Similarly, you can designate Florence Crittenton Services as a beneficiary of all or part of the death benefit of a life insurance policy.
Dortha Hogue Endowment Fund
Established in 2017 to celebrate our 125th anniversary, the Dorotha Hogue Endowment Fund proudly honors Dorotha Hogue, who pioneered the current Florence Crittenton Services program model and was the first Denver Public School teacher at Florence Crittenton. In 1984, she worked with Debbie Gilboy Corley, a social worker, to transition the organization from a residential home for unwed, pregnant women to our current model–a public-private partnership between Denver Public Schools and Florence Crittenton Services that provides education and comprehensive wrap-around support services to teen mothers and their children.
This endowment not only respects our history and commitment to serving young women and their children, but also will provide the financial security to ensure we continue to support teen mothers and their children for generations to come. A planned gift demonstrates your investment in our mission and offers the opportunity to minimize the tax burden of your estate, no matter the size.
125 Legacy Circle
When you make a current or planned gift to the Dorotha Hogue Endowment Fund, you will become a member of the Florence Crittenton Services 125 Legacy Circle. Founded to celebrate our 125th Anniversary, the Legacy Circle honors those that have made Florence Crittenton Services the organization it is today and those that have committed to its future. Include Florence Crittenton Services of Colorado in your estate plans or make a current gift to the Dorotha Hogue Endowment Fund today by:
- Remembering Florence Crittenton Services in your will
- Establishing a life-income gift or planned gift with Florence Crittenton Services

Other Ways to Maximize Giving
There are many other ways to make a meaningful contribution to support FloCrit teen families.
Stock Gifts
Gifts of appreciated securities are easy ways to make an impact at FloCrit and, often, make a bigger gift than you originally thought possible. These gifts may also provide tremendous tax benefits, including possibly avoiding paying capital gains and qualifying for a tax deduction for the current fair market value of the asset regardless of the original price paid for the stock. Simply work with your broker to transfer the stock directly to FloCrit.
Employer Matching & Workplace Giving
Matching gifts are charitable giving programs where companies match in whole or in part gifts made by employees. With a matching gift, the value of your gift can be increased by your company. These programs enable corporations to give back to their communities and support the organizations their employees already support. Some companies even match gifts made by retirees and spouses.
If you make an individual gift to Florence Crittenton Services, please tell your company’s human resource administrator and ask if your company has a matching gift program, or check this Charity Navigator tool to see if your employer participates in a match program. If it does, please complete the required form, and contact us if we can help in any way.
We also participate in Employee Giving Campaigns in Colorado. If your company has workplace giving and you want your contributions to be directed to Florence Crittenton Services, please use this information to direct your gift:
- Mile High United Way, designate Florence Crittenton Services of Colorado, No. 0068
- Rocky Mountain Combined Federal Campaign, Assigned Charity No. 90725
- Colorado Combined Campaign designate Florence Crittenton Services, No. 4036
- Denver Employees Combined Campaign, listed under Children/Young Adults.
Colorado Child Care Contribution Tax Credit
Your contribution to the Florence Crittenton Services Early Childhood Education Center may qualify for a 50% Colorado Child Care Contribution Credit.
To take advantage of this credit, you must be a Colorado Resident and file a Colorado State Tax Return. The effect of this credit is that 50% of your donation is offset by a dollar-for-dollar reduction of your Colorado income taxes. In addition, you also can deduct your full contribution on your federal and state income tax returns if you itemize your deductions. As a result, the net cost of your contribution is approximately one-third of your gift. At the end of each year, we will send you the necessary form to claim the credit for all of your qualifying gifts received during the calendar year.
Donors should contact their tax advisor for advice regarding the applicability of the credit. Information provided here is not tax advice. For more information, please visit the Colorado Department of Revenue Bulletin.
