Meet Cindy, Class of 2020, and her son Romeo.

How old were you when you became pregnant and how old are you now?
I got pregnant at 15 and I am now 16 years young.

What is your child’s name and age?
My son’s name is Romeo and he’s 3weeks old today (Thursday, March 14, 2019).

Describe your child’s personality.
My baby is such a goof ball. He likes to roll his eyes and stick out his tongue. It’s so cute when his lips are puckered after a feeding.

What did your life look like before you got pregnant? School, hobbies, after school activities, friends, family?
Before I was pregnant, I hung out with many friends. School was always one of my top priorities. My intention was to get good grades so that I could play softball, which didn’t happen because I quickly learned that I was pregnant.

How did you find out about Florence Crittenton Services and why did you decide to come here?
When I went to the clinic to confirm that I was pregnant, my doctor recommended me to come to Florence Crittenton because there are many girls like myself who are going through the same thing. I knew that this would a better experience for me.

How has Florence Crittenton Services helped you and your child?
Florence Crittenton not only helped me get my education, but also provided my baby the stuff he needs, like clothes, diapers, wipes, etc., without paying a cent. I feel comfortable in this community because everyone is so supportive and empowering.

What has your experience as a teen mother been like?
As a teen mom, I feel just like any other mom or just like any other teen. I still make time to talk to my girlfriends and I’m starting to get the hang of waking up in the middle of the night to feed my baby. Although it can be rough balancing the two out, my new life is just beginning.

What were your goals before you became pregnant and what are your goals now?
My goals before I got pregnant were to finish school and get a stable job that pays well so I can give back to my family. My goals remains the same today, but another goal I have is to always look out for my son, and teach him how to be a MAN with self-worth.

What are you goals for your child?
I don’t have goals for my son. He’ll be the one deciding on that while he’s growing. I just want the best for him, and whatever makes him happy, makes me happy.
